WheelPad L3C is looking for skilled carpenters or aspirational carpenter’s apprentices to join our team at this growing, mission-driven manufacturer in Wilmington, Vermont. 

WheelPad is committed to building accessible spaces in the most environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economical manner. We seek motivated carpenters to assist our Production Manager, Jay Cutler, in building our PADs (Personal Accessible Dwellings).

The Carpenter's duties include working in a team environment, assembling SuitePADs, StudioPADs, BathPADs, and additional products as they are developed, 

Our ideal candidate will have been successful in similar roles, have experience using hand and power tools, have a sense of humor, be flexible in switching tasks, be willing to keep a clean and organized workspace, and be excited about working for a company that puts people first.

START DATE: Flexible.

LOCATION: Onsite in Wilmington, Vermont at our manufacturing facility. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
  • Communicates with respect and clarity.
  • Fits and installs window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim, including flooring and specialty ceiling, using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for finishing exterior trim and roofs.
  • Shapes or cuts materials such as wood, metal, glass, and to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Assembles and fastens materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Paints interior cabinetry, trim, and specified hardware, and exterior siding, trim, and specified hardware.
  • Moves necessary materials around the facility as assigned.
  • Cleans up worksite debris.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Carpentry Experience and working with a team preferred.
  • Experience with hand & power tools: drills, sanders, saws, nail guns.
  • Cabinet-making skills a plus.

POSITION DETAILS

Position type: Permanent, Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Jay Cutler, Production Manager

Hours: Flexible.

Wages: $18-$35 an hour, based on experience
