Vermont Public recently aired a story on Vermont Edition with Elizabeth Price, Hisham Awartani's mother, about adapting to life after a spinal cord injury and the process of creating an accessible living space for him in the Burlington community with his family. We have been so thankful and honored to have been a part of Hisham's journey as he adapts to life after a spinal cord injury.
Being able to support a community member in need at home here in Vermont to get a quickly installed, accessible living space so that Hisham can live in the comfort of his own private space with his family while he recovers has been inspiring.
". . . it's transformational because houses in Vermont are not built for accessibility and are very difficult to adapt. So it was very transformational without it being something that is destructive or so complicated." - Elizabeth Price (Hisham's Mother)
The WheelPad team is delighted to hear how Hisham has been recovering since last fall and eagerly look forward to following his journey as he continues to thrive after adversity.
